Religious Quote: Joseph Ratzinger

A just laicism allows religious freedom. The state does not impose religion but rather gives space to religions with a responsibility toward civil society, and therefore it allows these religions to be factors in building up society.
Joseph Ratzinger

Not all moral issues have the same moral weight as abortion and euthanasia. There may be legitimate diversity of opinion even among Catholics about waging war and applying the death penalty, but not... with regard to abortion and euthanasia.
Joseph Ratzinger

Having a clear faith, based on the creed of the church is often labeled today as fundamentalism. Whereas relativism, which is letting oneself be tossed and swept along by every wind of teaching, look like the only attitude acceptable to today's standards.
Joseph Ratzinger

The wrath of God is a way of saying that I have been living in a way that is contrary to the love that is God. Anyone who begins to live and grow away from God, who lives away from what is good, is turning his life toward wrath.
Joseph Ratzinger

To me, its seems necessary to rediscover - and the energy to do so exists - that even the political and economic spheres need moral responsibility, a responsibility that is born in man's heart and, in the end, has to do with the presence or absence of God.
Joseph Ratzinger

The Cross is the approbation of our existence, not in words, but in an act so completely radical that it caused God to become flesh and pierced this flesh to the quick; that, to God, it was worth the death of his incarnate Son.
Joseph Ratzinger

We are moving toward a dictatorship of relativism which does not recognize anything as for certain and which has as its highest goal one's own ego and one's own desires.

All Summer in a Day- By: Ray Bradbury

Concussion of Storms is like a violent shock from a heavy blow. Storms can go on and on and on. Whenever a severe storm comes, people look out the window and feel depressed. They have a lack of sunlight, depression, hopelessness, unhappiness and irritability. Margot and his family have not seen sunlight since they were two years old. There was something about Margot that no one else in the family had. Margot had S.A.D. (Seasonal affective disorder). She was sad, lonely, depressed and had a lost of interest in everything. In the story, this really symbolizes the feelings that Margot had when the sun didn’t come out.

Rain symbolizes the sadness of not enjoying the outdoors that was once a sunny day. The moisture from all of the rain makes the day seem very gloomy and boring than a sunny day that is happy and fun. In the story, everyday seems like a gloomy day to everyone on Venus because it rains constantly. When it rains, it feels like everything in the world has turned dark, dreary and it feels like the soul has been taken out of you. Rain is one thing that can cause an S.A.D. When it rains, gloominess fills the air and excitement of the season is gone.

When you look at someone and they look pale, it sometimes doesn’t mean that they’re sick, but their lonely, depressed and have discretion. In the story, Margot was very pale. She was alone, with no one to talk to because everyone thought that she didn’t know anything about the sun. That’s when her heart went empty. There was no one on Venus that cared for her, therefore, lead her being pale. Feeling alone inside is never a good thing. Sometimes, when someone is pale, they feel like there is a brick wall, separating them from the comfort on the other side. Find the comfort and have your heart be full of happiness and not depression.

When you are locked, you feel you have no freedom, enslaved and depressed. In the story, Margot was locked in a closet and felt like she was enslaved and had no freedom. She was alone and no one liked her and she missed out on the big sunny day. Margot was secure in one place and had no one to talk to. When you are locked you can’t get out. You’re stuck in one place. It symbolizes that when you are locked, you can’t meet your goals, you can’t continue with the daily life. Try not to be locked in your little space. Get out and do your daily life, meet your goals and regain your freedom.
